Quercus shumardii

Note:  One of the most outstanding oaks for landscape use.  The Shumard Oak makes an excellent shade tree with fall color in red, orange and yellow.  Performs best in well-drained soils.  In sites with poorly drained soils, Nuttall Oak (Quercus nuttallii) may be a better choice.
